How do I pick my storage unit size?
We can assist with that. First, on our website, www.american-storage.net, we offer a visual tool that describes and pictures what each storage unit size can hold. If you need further assistance, call us at 719-265-9999, and we can walk you through calculating the right size for your belongings. We do this daily and have a good handle on each space’s capacity.
What are the benefits of climate-controlled storage? Should I consider it?
Climate-controlled storage protects from temperature and humidity fluctuations, safeguarding sensitive items like furniture, electronics, and collectibles, while reducing the risk of damage from pests and dust.
Do I need tenant storage insurance?
Many storage properties offer tenant storage insurance. We don’t. Typically, your homeowners or renters’ insurance policy with your current carrier provides more comprehensive coverage at reasonable rates.
What is the difference between office, access, and gate hours?
Simply put, office hours are the hours that we are in the office and available to assist you with renting space online, making a payment, or otherwise transacting business. Our office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. We are closed on Sunday. Access hours and gate hours are synonymous at American Storage. Our storage property is open and accessible between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM daily, every day of the week.
What if I need to speak to someone about my storage after hours?
We are available to assist with after-hours problem resolution. American Storage is locally owned and operated, and our managers live on site! We provide our tenants with emergency numbers at the time of rental and work very hard to answer any incoming calls after hours or on weekends.
What security measures are in place?
Thank you for asking! Gated access is one of the most popular security measures in place at most properties today. If you don’t have a gate code, you don’t get in. In addition to the gated access, other security measures include high-density surveillance cameras and a security company that monitors activity on the property.
What items am I not allowed to store?
Our legal lease agreement includes a long list of items we do not allow to be stored. It’s against policy to store flammable liquids, food items, firearms, hazardous materials, or substances etc. We are glad to discuss these items at the time of rental.
Do you sell boxes and other moving supplies?
We have a good supply of moving boxes in all sizes, which contain pre-printed graphics for you to label box contents. We also sell tape, markers, box-cutters, and several other moving supply items for our customers.
Do you provide dollies, pushcarts and moving equipment?
We do keep several types of dollies in our manager unit – to make available for our customers to move heavy furniture or other pieces around. Additionally we frequently assist our customers with jump starting a vehicle or putting additional air in their vehicle tires. And, our employees are experts in providing directions for those needing assistance in backing their RV or trailer into a parking spot.
Do I need to bring my own storage lock?
You are always welcome to bring your own lock. Our strong recommendation is that you use a disk lock on your unit door. We have these available in our office. They are bulky, operate well and are almost indestructible – without making quite a bit of noise!
Is your parking on cement or gravel?
At American Storage in Colorado Springs, our RV/Boat/Auto parking spaces are all on asphalt. Parking spaces are numbered for ease of use. And we offer everything from 20 foot parking spots to 40 foot parking spots. All parking spots are open parking. We do not currently offer covered parking.
